Welcome to Families With Food Allergies

Dear Friend,

My name is Laurel Anderson. I am the founder and president of Families With Food Allergies (FWFA) which is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an awareness of food allergies and the prevention of suspected and unexpected food allergy reactions. We support initiatives that will lessen the symptoms and possibly find a cure for severe reactions to the eight major food allergens.

The story of how FWFA began
My daughter was diagnosed with a food allergy at the age of fourteen months after having a small taste of a peanut butter cracker. An emergency call was made, because she had an immediate reaction! By the time I arrived to the hospital, only ten minutes later, her body was covered with red hives and her face was so swollen that I did not even recognize her! I was even afraid to hold her! (Miraculously, her twin is unaffected by food allergies.) To this day, it has impacted me so much that I felt I needed to create more awareness and help schools, families, friends and those that provide child care to understand its severity.

Our invitation to you
You are cordially invited to participate in our Support Groups. You may contact me by email, call or write using the information on our Contact form. We hope that the information provided in these pages is helpful and let us know what we may need to add.

We are different than other allergy and asthma organizations, because the medical community offers treatment for symptoms of allergies and we provide tips for coping with food allergies and more. If you are pleased by what you see here, please consider making a contribution. Your gift, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated. Also, please join our membership so that we may continue to fulfill our mission and vision for a cure. Thank you!

Laurel Anderson, President & Founder
