Families With Food Allergies is available to make teacher in-service presentations, participate in assemblies, parent/teacher clubs, in-class talks and more. We are for working towards informing and supporting students and adults about life-threatening food allergies. We seek to improve the quality of life for children that have food allergies within the day-to-day school environment and after school programs. We seek to create a greater understanding of the complexities of food allergies to reduce anxiety and encourage manageable care plans. Some steps are very basic yet easily overlooked such as:

* Does the classroom have pets that the children might hand feed with unsuspecting allergens mixed in with the feed?
* Do the waterless hand cleansers remove the food proteins as well as soap and water?
* What are the possible early warning signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis?
* How far away, time wise, is an adrenaline auto-injector and is one injection going to be enough?
* What does a teacher do with a child that is suddenly left out when a well-intentioned parent brings a special birthday treat that the allergic child cannot consume or even touch?

Some of these answers may surprise you. We have other resources and information to share.

Ideal for childcare providers, teachers and coaches, the Epinephrine Auto-Injector Training Module is designed to help individuals learn how to correctly administer an epinephrine auto-injector to a person who is suffering from a severe allergic reaction. Classes will be taught by the American Red Cross.

Please contact us as soon as possible so that we may schedule your school's visitation(s).
