SOLD OUT! Sixty-six Trick-or-Treaters celebrated a very special Spooky Ooky Halloween luncheon that omitted peanuts, eggs, shellfish, wheat, tree nuts, fin fish, soy and milk at The Olive and the Grape on Sunday, October 28, 2007!

Families and friends participated and learned more about understanding the complexities of living with severe food allergies. For many children, this was the very first time that they had an opportunity to meet other children with severe food allergies and share a safe and simple meal together. Additionally, this was the first time these children did not have to throw away their holiday candy due to the intense care toward identifying candy that would not cause an allergic reaction for these children.

President and Founder Laurel Anderson welcomed everyone and there were presentations by Dr. Samuel Friedlander, Dr. Asif Khan, Dr. Shermeen Farukhi and Stacie Lowman. (Lowman is from Verus Pharmaceuticals.) The event was at the Olive and the Grape in Mentor, Ohio. The delicious menu included chicken (donated by Blue Ribbon Meats), Jell-O gigglers, vegetables, apple juice, fresh fruit, and pasta. Volunteers Theresa, Jessica and John Konistsky and Jeannette Fifolt helped with the food and carnival games while parents listened to the presentations. A good time was had by all!
